Dr. D Asks some important questions of interest to Berkeley Heights residents - Chiropractor Berkeley Heights Dr. D Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
What's the difference between chiropractic and medicine?
Medical treatment focuses on the disease or the symptom. Chiropractic focuses on the person with the disease or the symptom. Medical treatment usually involves changing blood chemistry. Chiropractic involves restoring nervous system integrity. Medical doctors prescribe medicine. Chiropractors adjust the spine—a common source of nervous system interference.

Your First Visit

On your first visit a lot needs to happen.

Of course, the first step is to get all of the initial admitting paperwork completed. You can save about 15 minutes by downloading the initial patient forms from our site.

Dr. DeFabio consulting with a patient.Once the paperwork is finished, you will have a consultation with Dr. DeFabio about your current condition as well as a complete history. If you have any recent test results, please bring them along. The more information you bring, the better we can help you. Also, if you are on medication, please bring a list of your medications.

After the consultation and history, the next step is an examination.

The examination consists of a thorough neurologic, orthopedic, functional and chiropractic evaluations. Of course, we'll check your height, weight and blood pressure, too. All of these tests will give the doctor the information needed to diagnosis your problem and determine not only if you can be helped, but more importantly, the best course of action to take in helping you met your health goals. If any additional tests are needed, such as MRI's CAT scans, x-rays, lab tests or additional consultations, that would be discussed after the examination. Radiographic x-rays are taken in the office when needed.

Plan to be in the office for approximately 45 minutes for the first visit.

After the examination home care instructions are given and a follow-up appointment is scheduled called the report of findings. At that time Dr. D. will discuss with you the course of treatment for your condition to get you back on track as soon as possible.
